Five
E's mission is to serve scientists, business people, educators,
legislators, community organizers, governmental policy makers,
rural and urban planners, and the public at large by communicating
sustainable development information, invigorating public
interest in sustainability issues, and providing sound consultation
for guiding sustainable development action taking.
We encourage new working relationships across environmental,
economic development, and social justice boundaries. And, we
transform decision-making processes by articulating and clarifying
crucial controversies and identifying strategies to advance
problem-solving that guarantees the meeting of sustainable
development objectives by encouraging people to seek common
ground solutions.
Our work is designed
to demonstrate how sustainable development provides
an effective set of organizing principles to guide
the seeking of sound solutions, whether one is working
on community-based strategic planning design and implementation,
conservation-based development and biodiversity maintenance,
adaptive coastal zone management, watershed assessment
and protection, sustainable agriculture, integrated
global climate change mitigation, sustainable economic
development in forest-dependent communities,
regional comprehensive planning, urban planning and
sustainable
redesign including low impact development, green building/energy
conservation, dispute resolution and mediation, sustainability
education and communication,
or advancement of ecotourism for sustainable economic
development.
