Five
E’s Unlimited has
significantly advanced the practice of successful sustainable
community development. For example, we designed
and directed a project for the community of Dauphin
Island, AL
in 2007
focused upon sustainable community strategic planning. This
project was recently recognized as a finalist in the International
Association of Public Participation's (IAP2)
Project
of the Year Award.
The international recognition by IAP2 on pages 8 and 67 in
the above linked report was related to the diversity and breadth
of our Dauphin Island project as well as its promotion of the
IAP2 Core Values in public participation.
Five E's is
very interested in helping you with your project of sustainable
community
development. The foundation of our
assistance to communities is built upon the premise that any
community improvement effort intended to be sustainable
will be initiated, driven, and
completed by the community and
all its stakeholders. In
this context we work collaboratively with any community
wanting to
initiate a sustainable development project.
We assist the community at no charge in developing their
initial strategy to eventually design a sustainable community
strategic plan that can be implemented and progress measured.
We will help you by
providing background information on the
"How
To"
of sustainable community development, including guidance
in building community capacity. We will provide you
with
a copy of the Community
Sustainability Assessment (CSA) survey that
you can use in assessing the present status of your community
with regards to sustainability criteria. And we will assist
you in designing appropriate
citizen and stakeholder engagement strategies. With this
initial assistance we
will help you achieve the
first
step for sustainable community development
- "initiated by the community." Our
free assistance will include guidance on:
- What is sustainability?
- What
is sustainable community development?
- Building community
capacity
- Use of the Community
Sustainability Assessment (CSA) survey
- Next steps
After our free advice
and consultation in helping you to initiate a sustainable
community development project, if you chose to continue
with our assistance then we will work with you at our standard
fees to complete the second and third steps in successful
community development efforts - "driven and completed
by the community." As sustainability specialists we
will collaborate with the community to design, direct,
and facilitate an
all-inclusive,
transparent public participation process for all community
members to contribute collectively in developing a strategic
plan for achieving community resilience and sustainability.
